House Rewires in Hampshire

Rewiring is what we do best. Old or unsafe wiring taken out and replaced with a safe, modern installation — done properly, tested, certified, and with as little disruption to your home as possible.

Does your home need it?

Signs your house might need rewiring

Not sure whether it's time? These are the things we're called out to most often. If a few of them sound familiar, it's worth getting it looked at.

  • Old rubber, fabric or lead-sheathed wiring
  • A fuse box with old rewireable fuses instead of modern breakers and RCDs
  • Not enough sockets, or old round-pin ones
  • Lights flickering, or breakers tripping for no reason
  • Sockets or switches that feel warm, or look browned or scorched
  • A property that hasn't been rewired in 25–30 years or more
  • Buying, selling or renting out, or an EICR has flagged problems
  • Extending, converting a loft, or doing a full renovation

Why Hampshire Rewires

Rewire specialists who know Hampshire homes

Rewiring is our bread and butter, not a sideline. After more than ten years across the county we've a good feel for what's behind the plaster before we start cutting — the period cottages and Victorian terraces around Romsey and Winchester, the post-war semis in Chandlers Ford and Eastleigh, the lot. That means fewer surprises, less mess, and a tidy job done right.

NICEIC Domestic Installer · City & Guilds qualified · Part P registered · £5m public liability · 12-month workmanship guarantee · every rewire tested and certified.

Rewire questions, answered

How much does a rewire cost?
It depends on the size and age of the property and how much needs doing — a full rewire is a bigger job than a partial. We won't guess over the phone. We come and take a proper look, then give you a clear written quote with no hidden charges, so you know exactly where you stand before we start.
How long does a house rewire take?
As a rough guide, a typical three-bedroom house is usually around five to ten working days depending on access and how much making-good is involved. We'll give you a realistic timescale with your quote so you can plan around it.
Do I have to move out during a rewire?
Usually not. We work room by room so you can stay in the house, and we'll keep the disruption to a minimum. If we think it'll be quicker or easier with the place empty we'll tell you honestly — but most rewires we do with people still living in.
Will you make a mess?
Rewiring means chasing cables into walls, so there's some unavoidable disturbance — but we sheet up, tidy as we go and make good to a sensible standard afterwards. We'll be straight with you about what's included and what's left for a decorator before we start.
Do I get a certificate for the work?
Yes. Every rewire is tested and signed off with an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC), and the work is notified under Part P as NICEIC Domestic Installers. That's your proof the installation is safe and compliant — important if you ever sell or rent the property.
Do I need a full rewire or just a partial one?
Not every house needs a full rewire. Sometimes a partial rewire or a consumer unit upgrade is all that's required. We test what you've got and tell you straight — if a partial will sort it safely, we won't try to sell you a full one.
Do you do commercial rewires too?
Yes. Alongside homes and rental properties we rewire commercial premises — shops, offices and small business units — across Hampshire. Large or small, get in touch and we'll quote it.
